NUMI Integrated Toilet, Kohler CO
Responsible for the Industrial Design of the NUMI integrated toilet development after the concept was approved: a product where an entire ecosystem of electronics, sensors, mechanisms and integrated technology had to vanish inside a minimalist sculpture made of ceramic and glass. Deap Design worked with the engineering teams in Wisconsin and Shanghai to resolve the original Numi into the production-ready-design.
Case study:
Overall design intent:
Resolve the NUMI design with invisible technology and apply Kohler’s high standards for comfort and refined manufacturing details.
Seat/User comfort:
Deap design created the low-profile and ultra comfortable NUMI seat based on insights from extensive user research.
Innovative Lid movement/
An eloquent, choreographed seat & lid movement was developed to convey luxury and precision.
Creating mood/
Multiple iterations of the side panels resulted in diffused and highly resolved, controllable mood lights that enable easy assembly & service.
High-end Spray Aesthetics
The design of the spray; drying feature and bowl illumination were consolidated into a stainless-steel element for simplicity and hygiene.
Transforming the market/
Numi has evolved from architectural icon and intelligent toilet into the focal point of the ‘wellness sanctuary’.
